A tragic series of deaths involving three adult film performers has renewed attention on mental health and the importance of seeking support during periods of emotional distress.
According to a report published by The Spun, adult film performers Christian Styles, LuLu LoveBottom, and Hana Kuraki were recently found dead. Styles was 29, LoveBottom was 30, and Kuraki was 25.

The report states that the three deaths are believed to have been suicides, although their official causes of death had not been confirmed at the time of publication.
U.S. Shares Mental Health Guidance
Following the deaths, attention has focused on mental health support and suicide-prevention resources.
The U.S. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline reminds people experiencing emotional distress that confidential support is available around the clock in the United States and its territories. People can contact 988 to connect with a trained counselor.
Mental health professionals also encourage people experiencing a crisis to avoid dealing with overwhelming feelings alone and to reach out to trusted friends, relatives, counselors, or emergency services when necessary.

Having a Safety Plan Can Help
A safety plan can provide practical steps for someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Guidance highlighted in the report includes recognizing personal warning signs, identifying healthy coping strategies, staying connected with supportive people, keeping crisis resources available, and making the surrounding environment safer.
One important resource for people in the United States is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, which provides confidential crisis support 24 hours a day.

A Reminder About Mental Health
The deaths have also prompted renewed discussion about the pressures people can experience privately, even when they appear successful or comfortable publicly.
Mental health struggles can affect people from every profession and background. Friends and family members may sometimes notice changes in behavior, mood, isolation, or other warning signs before a crisis develops.
Anyone concerned about themselves or another person should seek professional assistance rather than attempting to handle an emergency alone.
Our thoughts are with the families, friends, colleagues, and loved ones affected by these deaths.
If you or someone you know in the United States is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 for immediate confidential support. If there is an immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
Christian Styles: accidental overdose, not suicide
One crucial update the early reports missed: the death of Christian Styles, 29, was not a suicide at all. The Wayne County Medical Examiner in Michigan ruled that Styles — legal name Zachary Christian Jaghab — died on August 20 from alcohol and mitragynine toxicity, an accidental overdose involving alcohol and kratom. A toxicology report obtained by People found a blood-alcohol level of 0.168% and a mitragynine level of 87 ng/mL, a combination the examiner wrote “increases the risk for sudden death.”
Born and raised in Canton, Michigan, Styles entered the adult industry in 2021 and built a following of more than a million across Instagram and X, winning the 2023 GayVN fan-voted award for Favorite All-Male Creator Collab alongside Chris Damned. TMZ obtained the 911 dispatch audio from the morning of his death: a caller performing CPR begged paramedics to hurry while a family member was heard crying, “I’m here. Please hurry, please.” The medical examiner’s report said he had abused drugs for 13 years, had a history of overdoses, and that his parents had been checking on him hourly — his last known alive time was 3 p.m. A GoFundMe started by his parents, Johnny and Ellen, described him as “an adored uncle, family member, and dear friend to many.”
LuLu LoveBottom’s farewell post
LuLu LoveBottom — legal name Lucas Edward Drake, who also performed online as Hunter Hardin — died on September 7 at his Los Angeles home. TMZ and People report he was 31. Los Angeles police dispatchers received the call at 11:22 a.m.; the case was registered as non-suspicious, and TMZ’s copy of his death certificate lists the manner of death as suicide, though the specific cause remains deferred pending further investigation.
Hours before his death, Drake shared a final post on Instagram that has since become the message he is remembered by: “I love you and I’m sorry I was unable to make it to the end. Goodbye forever. Love, LuLu.” His roommate Michael later hosted friends and family for a backyard gathering celebrating his life. Drake had been a college football player before discovering burlesque at a ballroom event in the Phoenix area about five years ago — a turn that launched his performing career. In a 2025 interview with OutSports he had spoken openly about his mental health, saying he had experienced “a lot of depression” throughout his life and had turned to athletics as “a relief.” “I’m a happy and bubbly person… But I’ve also been depressed,” he said. “I like to use my art to express those feelings. A lot of it is pain and abandonment, a lot of suffering through romance.”
Hana Kuraki: a note naming an ex before the end
The third loss was the youngest: Japanese adult film star Hana Kuraki, 25, whose body was found at an apartment in Tokyo’s red-light district that belonged to her ex-boyfriend, former music idol Shota Taira, 29. Shortly before her death, she allegedly left a note accusing Shota of assault, of breaking into her home to steal valuables, and of a hit-and-run in June in which — as she tried to stop him while ending the relationship — she was dragged by his Maybach and suffered serious injuries to her face and jaw.
Kuraki, who had debuted in the adult industry in 2024, had recently announced a break from work, vaguely citing a traffic accident. Shota had reportedly been arrested after the alleged assault the previous December; when Kuraki refused to settle out of court, his father allegedly made threats as well, the note claimed. Japanese police have not released an official cause of death. Shota has not issued a statement about her death.
