Selena Gomez’s “Feeling Nostalgic” TikTok Sends Fans Into Frenzy — Her Cheeky Nod to Ex Nick Jonas

Selena Gomez just gave her fans the ultimate throwback — and the internet is officially losing its mind.

The 34-year-old stunned in a red-hot custom Prada evening gown with satin high heels at the 2026 Rare Impact Fund Benefit on Wednesday night. But it was what she did AFTER the event that really broke the internet: a cheeky TikTok set to the Jonas Brothers’ 2008 hit “Burnin’ Up” — with Selena lip-syncing the lyric about the “red dress.”

“Feeling nostalgic,” she captioned the clip, showing off the elegant gown while mouthing the words to her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas’ fan-favorite line.

For those who need a history lesson: Selena starred as Nick’s on-screen love interest in the original “Burnin’ Up” music video. The pair started dating in 2008 after crossing paths on Disney Channel — she was Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place, he was the Camp Rock heartthrob. They were around 15, dated on and off until 2010, and Selena later called it “puppy love,” adding “he’s lovely, I do have a love for him for sure.”

Both have long since moved on — Selena married music producer Benny Blanco in September 2025, while Nick wed Priyanka Chopra in December 2018 and the couple welcomed daughter Malti in January 2022. But fans can’t help melting over the nostalgic nod.

The TikTok wasn’t her only headline from the night. In an emotional moment at the Benefit, Selena joined Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short on stage to unveil the Katherine Short Legacy Award — honoring Short’s late daughter Katherine, a social worker who devoted her career to helping people through their hardest moments. A tearful Short accepted the first award at the Hollywood Palladium.

Between the red dress, the throwback anthem, and the heartfelt tribute, Selena owned the night — and reminded everyone why she remains one of the most-watched women on the planet.

A Record-Breaking Night: Nearly $3 Million for Youth Mental Health

But the TikTok was just the dessert — the main event was the cause. The fourth annual Rare Impact Fund Benefit, themed “A Night of Radiance & Reflection,” took over the Hollywood Palladium on Wednesday, October 14, and it was the biggest edition yet: 500 guests, Emmy winner Sean Hayes emceeing, performances from Leon Bridges and Bella Kay, and a record-breaking haul of nearly $3 million for youth mental health charities. Among the crowd: Katy Perry, Shay Mitchell, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, Natalia Bryant, Jackie Aina and Selena’s Only Murders in the Building co-star Martin Short. Selena’s husband, music producer Benny Blanco, served on the host committee alongside Becky G.

The numbers behind the night are staggering. The Rare Impact Fund, which Selena launched alongside Rare Beauty in 2020 with a $100 million fundraising pledge over ten years, has already raised more than $30 million, works with 30 nonprofit partners across five continents, and reaches an estimated 3.5 million young people a year. One percent of all Rare Beauty sales flows directly into the fund. Speaking to People on the carpet, Selena said witnessing the impact firsthand was “beyond my wildest dreams”: “Probably actually witnessing what we do, we are so fortunate to have raised 30 million plus already for this fund, and seeing what we’re doing with the communities, with programs, different organizations — it’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

Two Prada Gowns and a Jelly Manicure

Selena didn’t stop at one showstopper. After walking the carpet in the red-hot strapless custom Prada, she changed inside the gala into a second Prada look: a sand-colored column gown with multicolored crystals trickling down the bodice like sequin raindrops, swapping spiral diamond earrings for drop diamonds. Styled by Erin Walsh, the carpet look was finished with Bucherer Baguette Love earrings, her engagement ring, matching red satin pointed-toe pumps and a ruby-red jelly manicure by Tom Bachik. Sponsors lining the pink carpet included Ulta Beauty, lululemon, Pacsun, Batch & Box and Afterpay — fitting for a night where glamour was the vehicle, not the point.

The Five-Second TikTok That Healed a Generation

Then came the internet-breaking moment. On October 15, Selena posted a five-second TikTok — camera panning slowly up from her red heels to the shimmering gown — lip-syncing Nick Jonas’s iconic “red dress” ad-lib before dissolving into laughter at the end. The caption: “Feeling nostalgic.” The clip has been liked more than three million times, and the comments became a Disney Channel reunion, with brand accounts joining the fray: Adobe wrote “And suddenly an entire generation is healed,” while Princess Polly commented, “Thank you to the disney channel cinematic universe.”

The nostalgia runs deeper than the dress. Selena appeared in the 2008 “Burnin’ Up” video as a pseudo-Bond girl to Nick’s James Bond-inspired character — a video that famously premiered the same day as the first Camp Rock film. She and Nick, both 15 at the time, dated on and off until 2010, a romance that at one point entangled fellow Disney star Miley Cyrus in a love triangle. Reflecting on it in a 2015 Capital FM interview, Selena said: “We were babies. But we actually caught up the other day and it’s really fun to be able to do that. That, to me, was like puppy love, you know, it was very sweet.”

The morning after the benefit, Selena posted a heartfelt note on Instagram: “Last night at the Rare Impact Fund Benefit, I looked around the room and felt so grateful to be surrounded by so many people who also believe in this mission… I’m so proud of the community that has grown around it.” And for anyone wondering about married life: she and Benny Blanco marked their first wedding anniversary quietly — staying home, eating cake and watching their wedding videos in pajamas. Low-key, high-love.
