Coronation Street just dropped its most jaw-dropping twist of the year — and Lucy Fallon‘s Bethany Platt is at the center of it.
In Tuesday’s episode (October 13, 2026), viewers watched Bethany discover she is pregnant — weeks after a one-night stand with DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts), who happens to be her own mother’s ex-boyfriend.
“My Jaw Was on the Floor”
Even Fallon herself was blindsided when producers told her about the storyline. The 30-year-old actress, who has played Bethany since 2015, admitted: “My jaw was on the floor.”
She added that Bethany is “shocked and devastated” by the news — “it’s not a situation that she wants to be in. She’s got to make a decision whether she goes ahead with it or whether she gets a termination — and that’s quite traumatic in itself.”
A Love Triangle Like No Other
The scandal runs deep. Bethany’s mum, Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), is currently in prison awaiting sentencing for killing her abuser Theo Silverton — and Bethany has been living with Sarah’s ex, DC Kit Green, while helping care for Sarah’s young son Harry.
The situation turned explosive when Bethany and Kit had a one-night stand — a secret that Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) overheard, and Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) has also learned.

A week after the pregnancy reveal, Coronation Street dropped the Platt family’s next bombshell. In the Wednesday, October 21 episode, Sarah Platt walked free — a jury found her not guilty of murdering her abuser Theo Silverton, accepting that she acted in self-defence.
But freedom didn’t mean a clean slate. Kit Green flatly refused to resume his relationship with Sarah after she dumped him while on remand to protect his police career. Meanwhile, Gary Windass was handed an eight-month sentence for moving the murder weapon on the night Theo died — and his son Jake moved out in protest.
And in the same devastating episode, Bethany finally told her mother she is pregnant — while keeping the one detail that matters most a secret. Sarah, overjoyed at the prospect of becoming a grandmother, assumed the baby was Ryan Connor’s and urged Bethany to “put him in the picture.” Bethany, meanwhile, admitted she had already booked a termination. Then Kit — still clueless that he is the father — arrived to collect his things, spotted a tearful Bethany, and asked what was wrong. She was on the verge of confessing… and changed her mind.

Lucy Fallon is under no illusions about what viewers think of her character right now. “It’s not going to end well, because it’s her mum’s ex-boyfriend’s baby!” she warned. “I don’t actually know what Bethany was thinking when she slept with Kit – I think they both were in quite a bad place at the time.”
The 30-year-old actress is bracing for the backlash: “I think they’re going to be annoyed at her and think that she’s just really stupid, which she is for what she’s done! But there were two people involved here, so I’m hoping she doesn’t get all the blame…”
